October

I used to always want to move to the beach when I was younger. Then once I visited the Western states like Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona I fell in love. The dry heat, the colr schemes of the mountains and the history behind the West leaves me breathless. But I could never leave Pennsylvania and the month of October is one of my favorite times of the year here! The leaves are now changing and places like McConnells Mills State Park and Moraine State Park are full of beautiful reds, orange and yellow colors. All of the Farmer's Markets like Brenckle's, The Butler Farm Market, and Taylor's Farm Market are selling a variety of mum's, apples and ciders. Something new that I am seeing this year is Cherry Cider, I haven't decided to purchase it yet, because I'm not sure I would like it.

The weekends are full of activities for families. Cheeseman Fright Farm is a great place to visit day or night. In the daytime they have a large hay maze for the kids and a petting zoo. The hayride to the pumpkin patch is a sure pleazer for those little ones wanting to pick just the right pumpkin. Back at the barn mom and dad can enjoy a cup of hot cocoa from the kitchen or a cold Marburger Tea. At night the Fun Farm turns into the Fright Farm with Hayrides into the dark located on the edge of McConnells Mills State Park! Check it out at http://www.cheesemanfrightfarm.com/

Other Cool places to visit are Reilly's farm http://www.reillysummerseatfarm.com/, or Janoskis http://www.janoskis.com/.

Even though the first weekend in October is over it is still worth mentioning because the first weekend in October every year is always Franklin's Applefest & Clarion's Autumn Leaf Festival. If you love crafts, apples, applebutter, car shows, carnival food and scenic rides you'll have a hard time deciding which event to attend next year!

All these things and more make October my favorite time of the year!

The Chevy Traverse

So I am considering the purchase of a 2011 Chevy Traverse, they are a great looking crossover with many perks:
They are 8 passenger
Good Gas Mileage
All Wheel Drive
All the new bells and whistles such as On Star.
However for a $500+ a month payment, I'm thinking a used 2009-2010 Chevy Tahoe is a better bye, even if they are used with some mileage.
The Tahoe can tow a trailer, gets better gas mileage (Traverse 16 or 23) Tahoe is 18 in the city. So the question is do I want to commit to a 5 year payment on a vehicle that is smaller but brand new or a bigger vehicle, with better gas mileage and is capable of towing for the same price only used.
I need some feedback help??

Boys will be boys

Once again, it has been a long time since my last blog. Time does fly by so fast that it is hard to believe it is already October 1st.

Every morning at our house is always rushed at noone's fault but my own. Why? I hate mornings, I am not a morning person and probably will never be! Starting this school year now it is just my son and I at home, the last two to leave. The problem he is a morning person and I am not! He is a happy go lucky, well mannered, even tempered - never gives me trouble child! So this usually makes our mornings go very smooth!

Don't get me wrong it is great that he is, however the last two mornings he has not been his normal morning self. I'm fairly sure it is because he had been staying up later each night reading books for class that should have been read over a period of time, not rushed into 2 days.

Yesterday morning my beautiful eight year old, rushed into my batheroom half asleep to pee, because his batheroom is being remodeled. When he returned to the living room his comment was " Mommy I am so sorry but I peed all over your batheroom!" Now what would you think that meant coming from a child?

So I venture to the batheroom and sure enough he peed everywhere, the ceiling, the floor, the shower curtain, the toilet paper holder, the scale, the window & Blind, my flat iron and my glasses. Oh it was so gross, so as I was cleaning I yelled at him, explaining he needs to hold that thing no matter how tired he is! I was late to work, he was late to school, the batheroom is cleaned but wow not a good morning.

Then this morning I explain to him he is going to ride the bus, and half hour before we leave he starts screaming that he can't ride the bus, for this one boy has been bullying him. I explain to him that he needs to stick up for himself and we all have to deal with things we don't like but that it is a short ride to school & he will be fine.

As we approach the bus stop he goes into frantic lock down. I literally was trying to pull my well mannered even tempered child out of my vehicle. He missed the bus, I was late to work again and the bully he has been dealt with!

I guess boys will be boys but geez two days in a row! Wish me luck on Monday!
